D.O.D Official Podcast
By D.O.D

At the young age of just 22, D.O.D has achieved things that other aspiring DJs could only imagine. His hardworking, non-stop approach to DJing and Producing has finally paid off and the October issue of Mixmag will see D.O.D receive a huge two page spread about himself, and how he came about winning the ‘Mixmag / Blackberry / Don’t Stay In - International DJ Competition’. This is a well-deserved achievement for an extremely hard working, young DJ and such exposure like this is a ‘dream come true’ for the rising star, setting him up for big things in 2010/2011. Winning the competition not only guaranteed great exposure for D.O.D but also saw him fly out to Ibiza to become the Mixmag resident for the week. Taking with him his unique, in your face turntable wizardry D.O.D played a mix of House, Techno, Electro, Breaks, Drum & Bass, Hip-Hop, Indie and the unexpected, rocking parties all week across the White Isle. D.O.D’s passion for music began when he bought his first set of turntables at the tender age of 11. Now, another 11 years on, D.O.D is considered one of the most exciting new talents to come from dance music. His impressively ludicrous style of DJing can only be described as ‘Jump-Up Electro with the Unexpected’. D.O.D has studied Music Technology for a total of five years now, giving him extensive technical knowledge of music production, equipment and software. This has aided him in being one of the most technical gifted DJs in the country, using 3-4CDJ'S, DJM800 and EFX1000/Kaoss Pad 3 to create his unique sounds. But it is not just his technical skills that separate him from the rest as his creative abilities and imaginative style always shines through when he hits the decks, never failing to impress. Before every show, he digs out the finest acapellas, bootlegs and instrumentals to bridge the gap for switching genres of music. His main room edits have been taking clubs by storm, giving a large majority of his tracks that little something different, making every set unique. D.O.D has recently been signed to one of the country’s hottest new indie labels, ‘Gash Digital’. With various tracks and remixes already released and his debut EP ‘No Smoke’ due for release at the end of November, 2010 is set to be a busy year for the rising star. Two of his tracks on the forthcoming EP are being supported and played by house legend, Laurent Garnier. On the production front, like with his style of DJing, D.O.D breaks the rule-book and doesn’t stick to one genre of music. This open-minded attitude allows D.O.D to produce and remix anything from house, to hip-hop, to drum and bass, to dubstep, or even old party tunes. D.O.D is resident for some of the hottest club nights in the North of England: ‘FWAP!’, a brand new, very diverse, monthly club night at 53 Degrees in Preston. ‘Lancaster Loves’, again a very diverse club night which has a ‘no holds barred’ approach to the acts they book and the musical direction they go with. These residencies enable D.O.D to DJ alongside the biggest artists in the industry, and just this year alone he has DJ’d with the likes of Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, Chase & Status, Pendulum, Krafty Kuts, Plump DJs, Scratch Perverts, Grooverider, Shy FX, N-Type, Doorly, Benga, Rusko, Faithless, T.C, Example, The Cuban Brothers, The Whip + Many More. D.O.D has gained praise from some of the industry greats such as the Mixmag editors, Mistajam, Kissy Sell Out, Freemasons and Grooverider; all of them commenting on his enthusiastic and energetic nature behind the decks along with his precise but inventive use of CDJs. D.O.D has known to impress punters so much, that they often rate his DJ sets and his style over the main headliners of the night. D.O.D is bringing his new imaginative sound to the masses and always blows the roof of the club. D.O.D’s student mash-up sets have become something legendary in the city of Lancaster, with his two student residencies a week being the most successful nights in the city. The Sugarhouse, where D.O.D has a bi-weekly residency saw an increase in customers from an average of 600 people, to selling out every week to over 1400 people. This alone proved that D.O.D really knows how to shake things up, and please crowds. D.O.D’s ability to play so many different styles of music has seen him become one of the most interesting and inventive DJs to hear, and watch for a long time. Whether he’s playing a House warm up set, a pumping House and Techno peak time set, a Dubstep and Drum and Bass set or even and all out student mash-up frenzy, D.O.D is a DJ that must be seen. D.O.D is a DJ not to be missed. Witness the turntable wizardry for yourself!more
